Description: |
There is a full-time Help Desk Specialist position available in our Information Technology Department at the corporate office located on 3876 W. Centerview Way, West Jordan, Utah 84084. The hours of this position will be from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. Listed below is a detailed description of the position.
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for PC installations and maintenance. Provides technical support to PC users. Answers users' questions and ensures that they are capable of fully utilizing established systems. Troubleshoots and resolves PC operating problems. Notifies supervisor of significant problems and recurring errors in operations. Completes related records and reports.

Duties: |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1. Assumes responsibility for timely and effective PC installation and maintenance.
a. Sets up and installs PCs.
b. Maintains, modifies, and enhances PCs as needed.
c. Tests PC performance. Studies and resolves operating problems.
d. Maintains systems' integrity and performance.
e. Maintains documentation.
2. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communication and working relations with PC users.
a. Responds to users' requests and follows through promptly.
b. Resolves problems and concerns. Provides assistance, support, and training to users as needed. Ensures that PCs meet users' requirements and installations are completed timely.
c. Communicates as much information as possible to users, including reasons for problems, project status, and deadlines.
d. Acts as a consultant and resource to users.
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with area staff and with management.
a. Keeps management informed of significant problems and of progress attained in reaching established objectives. Provides recommendations for more effective programs and future equipment needs. Suggests related procedural changes.
b. Assists and supports Information Systems personnel as needed.
c. Prepares reports of activities, records, and other required documents.
d. Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
a. Stays informed of changes in computer technology and programs.
b. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained.
c. Completes special projects as assigned.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
1. PC installations and maintenance are completed effectively and timely. Problems are readily identified and resolved.
2. Assigned tasks and functions are completed in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
3. Good working relations exist with users. Users' concerns are promptly addressed and problems effectively resolved.
4. Required reports and documentation are complete and current.
5. Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant or recurring problems.
6. Good working relations exist with Information Systems personnel. Support and direction are provided as needed.

Qualifications: |
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
High school graduate or equivalent.
College coursework in computer science or equivalent experience preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Understanding of PC hardware.
Knowledge of Credit Union program applications.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One year of experience working in a related position.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Able to work well independently.
Good problem-solving skills.
Solid communication skills.
Ability to assist and train others.
