| Reporting to the AVP of Human Resources, the HRIS Director provides leadership, planning, project coordination, and management for HRIS and other technical systems that support the ongoing operations of the University of Utah including University Hospital & Clinics and School of Medicine. Sets strategic direction as articulated by the HR Leadership Team related to Information Systems. Accountable for ensuring continuity, process improvement, and successful delivery of support services for PeopleSoft HRIS, Kronos, and related information systems to internal users throughout the institution. Provides communications between institutional stakeholders and systems support providers and vendors. |
Duties: |
Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all aspects of the Information Systems functions in the Division of Human Resources in partnership with IT. Oversees system upgrades, system interfaces, data quality/integrity, HR Division web applications and employee records. Leads the HRIS team in managing the day-to-day activities to support HR, Payroll and other interrelated functions. Serves as an interface between internal/external customers and HRIS team members to ensure effective definition of and delivery of HRIS applications and interfaces with other systems/outside vendors.
Partners with vendors and internal clients to support ongoing HR processes, and participates in vendor evaluation, negotiation, and selection process. Maintains awareness of HRIS vendor plans and the potential impact of those plans on current and future HRIS functionality. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and local government legislation in relation to HR related data. Writes systems specifications and prepares data interfaces. Designs, automates, maintains, and communicates data audits.
Functions as both an individual contributor and a team member in driving and executing strategic process improvements through the use of project and process structured methodologies. Manages HRIS projects and staff to achieve HR department goals and objectives that require systems and technology related support. Manages budgetary requirements for HRIS operations and staffing needs, including forecasting and development of annual budgets. Responsible for planning, budgeting and forecasting HRIS needs and applications. |
Qualifications: |
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology or equivalency; plus a minimum of eight years related experience in areas such as data analysis, management and reporting experience working in an HRIS environment with multiple applications.
ERP systems experience; experience and credibility as a leader in an environment where the ability to influence and build relationships is critical; ability to manage multiple, high priority items and adjust to shifting priorities, while meeting deadlines. Strong analytical and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to identify problems and systematically gather relevant information, identify root causes, and address data integrity issues required.
Project management experience with a proven ability to collaborate and work as a team in successfully delivering projects on time and within budget. Proactive, organized, independent, and effective. Ability to work across multiple teams and multiple projects simultaneously, and adjust to multiple tasks and demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change. Very strong verbal and written communications skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze, flow chart, and recommend process changes.
