(www.supergen.com) brings together high tech and biotech to search for new, more effective drugs for the treatment of cancer. We are looking for a motivated, dedicated professional who wants to combine their skills with our uniquely talented team to change the current paradigm of drug discovery and development. This candidate will be working in our Salt Lake City, Utah location. Reporting to the Manager Discovery Biology, this position is responsible to conduct biological assays in the in vitro laboratory that are used to drive the drug discovery programs at SuperGen. Highly motivated and results oriented candidates who have an interest in cancer research will be considered.

Duties:

• The primary responsibility for this position is to assist in building and running a high-throughput cell-based screen using a liquid-handling machine. • Extensive experience in tissue culture and long-term storage of cell lines is required. • Perform tissue culture in sterile protective hood with numerous cancer cell lines, working with liquid nitrogen cryo-storage. • Expert in cell cytotoxicity and proliferation assays. • Perform cell based assays appropriate for the therapeutic targets in SuperGen’s discovery pipeline. • Responsible for the management and detailed analysis of large amounts of data. • Basic molecular biology skills (western blot, DNA extraction) are a bonus.

Qualifications:

Essential qualifications and experience are a B.S. or M.S. in a relevant field of biology (molecular biology, microbiology, physiology, etc.); B.S. with 2-5 years experience and M.S. with 1-2 years experience in a pharmaceutical lab. Must have basic knowledge of lab equipment and be adept at handling multiple priorities with aggressive timelines. Candidate will keep abreast of latest technology and findings related to therapeutic targets through reading scientific literature and attending scientific conferences. Must be detail oriented, adaptive, and demonstrate flexibility with changing priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential for this position.
