We are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to join our Customer Systems Administration and Hosting team. The Senior Systems Administrator plays a lead role of managing and maintaining Linux servers in a production environment for our hosted retail management software customers.
Specific responsibilities include:
· Installing and configuring Linux servers;
· Evaluating and hardening Linux security;
· Performing fine tuning on Linux servers;
· Designing and developing web-based and command line tools;
· Developing PERL and web systems;
· Performing Unix shell scripting;
· Assisting hosted customers with technical problems;
· Maintaining server environment, hardware and cabling;
· Participating in on-call schedule; and
· Serving as a mentor to other Systems Administrators.
The successful candidate must possess:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related area (equivalent work experience also accepted);
· 2-5 years in a similar role;
· Excellent Linux installation and configuration skills;
· Excellent Linux security evaluation and hardening skills;
· Excellent Unix system programming using PERL, Bash and C skills;
· Solid understanding of database internals and SQL queries;
· Ability to design professional and functional Web Interfaces;
· Good HTML development skills;
· Familiarity with common monitoring tools, including Nagios;
· Excellent SNMP configuration and management skills;
· Basic Java development skills;
· Basic understanding of Network Infrastructure including Cisco switches and routers;
· Strong interpersonal skills;
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
· Strong personal initiative and ability to work independently in a fast paced, high responsibility environment;
· Ability to troubleshoot problems in person, over the phone or via email while maintaining a professional demeanor;
· Ability to make informal presentations;
· Ability to manage a project plan and meet deadlines;
· Ability to work night time and weekend on-call shifts;
· Ability to lead other team members; and
· Ability to travel to customer work sites as needed.
